Getting Here
The easiest and most common way to reach the Viking Jr. Motel is by having your car. It's located in Saint Peter on U.S. Highway 169 – one major road from the Twin Cities metro area, south through the Minnesota River Valley. The motel is right on this highway (which turns into Minnesota Avenue through town), so easy to get to when you're out on the road. The motel provides this time-honored amenity of free, at-your-door parking for all its guests.
If you are coming by air, Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport (MSP) is the largest airport close to you. You must drive from MSP to Saint Peter for about 75-90 minutes; it’s quite an easy journey, heading south on Highway 169. Renting a car at the airport makes the most sense: it’s the best way to be flexible and get around and begin really exploring. Alternatively, there are several shuttle services, such as Land to Air Express, which run daily from MSP Airport to Saint Peter, making it a convenient and inexpensive mode for those who do not have a car.
Public transportation is very restricted to Saint Peter but attainable. By using the Land to Air Express bus that can be accessed from Minneapolis or Mankato, one can reach the town. In Saint Peter, the bus station is usually near the Gustavus Adolphus College campus. From this bus stop, it would be quite a long walk or a short inexpensive taxi ride to the motel. There is no passenger rail service to this town; hence, it would be most convenient to travel by car or through an airport shuttle.
